The Fiat Linea made its global debut in March 26, 2007 as a world car for developing countries. The Fiat Linea is based on the current Fiat Grande Punto platform, and was designed by Fiat Style Centre and co-developed by Fiat do Brasil and Tofas from Turkey. The new Linea 2012 will compete with mid-sized sedans like the Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Maruti Suzuki SX4, and Hyundai Verna.

The new car comes powered with a perfectly tuned, adrenalin inducing Euro V 1.4-litre 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC FIRE petrol engine which is apparently the first ever turbo engine in its segment in India and a frugal 1.3L Advanced Multijet diesel engine. The Fiat Linea 2012 is mated with a super-smooth slush box delivers exceptional performance that would make shy all others in the segment. The engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual, fully synchronized gear box with over drive on 4th and 5th.

The claimed mileage for the petrol version happens to be a remarkable 14.6 kmpl and the diesel with a jaw dropping 20.4 KMPL.
