The San Storm is the brainchild of San Motors, a Mumbai-based car manufacturer that was put together by a bunch of likeminded car enthusiasts and engineers. The company was formed with a burning desire and strong determination to introduce into the car market an economical and cost effective convertible. This was lacking in the market at the time as most car manufacturers considered it unsuitable.
The San Storm was creatively designed and engineered by a trio of skilled and talented professionals - world famous designer Gerard Godfroy designed the car, Phillipe Belou engineered it, and Christophe Bhir built and prototyped the car. Godfroy was the founder and designer of the French supercar Venturi and has also designed exhilarating cars for leading car manufacturers like Peugeot and Renault. Belou has engineered various race-winning cars at the Le Man race circuit most of which were prototyped by Bhir.
The scintillating convertible that is currently manufactured in Goa and takes motoring to new heights with its elegant French design cues, tough fibreglass body, thrill of open-top driving, and pride of ownership.
The Storm doesn't exactly raise a storm as its name implies but is powered by a refined and lively 59.5 bhp 1.2-litre Renault D7F-MPFI petrol engine that offers good performance. The 5-speed manual transmission with synchromesh on the car is taken from Renault too.
A refined suspension system helps improve the car's performance, handling, and ride quality. The front suspension is independent double wishbone linked to a stabilizer bar and coil over shock absorbers whereas the rear suspension is trailing link type with adjustable anti roll bar and coil over shocks.
The rack and pinion type steering offers good response while driving at top speed. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 16 seconds.

Designed with French inputs, the Storm has a cute and appealing style. The body is built with tough fibreglass that is ding-resistant at low speeds and double-skinned to improve the stiffness of the car. The retractable soft top adds expression to the sporty characteristics of the car. Other exterior highlights of the convertible are body coloured bumpers, fog lamps, rear spoiler, and stylish alloy wheels.
The cabin is packed with state-of-art features that are satisfying, welcoming, and appeasing. A smartly styled leather dashboard, dominant centre console, premium leather seats, and soft touch steering provide good luxury and comfort. The seats are slightly cramped though and will take some time to get used to.
Standard safety features such as semi-collapsible steering column, front seat belts with warning lights, and well-designed crumple zones offer good safety.
