TVS Motor Company is ramping up its manufacturing facility in Hosur. This move was made to meet increasing demand for its scooter the Wego, showcased in November, 2009. The Hosur plant is increasing its capacity to accommodate production of the Wego. The company plans to ramp up the Hosur facility to address demand in Tamil Nadu and other Eastern regions.November, 2010 saw TVS two-wheelers sales up by 27 %. The company sold 1,53,882 units as against 1,20,844 units in November, 2009. Scooter sales also witnessed a jump of 44 % at 36,233 units sold as against 25,115 units in November, 2009.H S Goindi, President (Marketing and Sales), TVS Motor Company said, “Tamil Nadu is the largest market for us. We plan to launch Wego in Tamil Nadu market by January or February 2011.” Currently, Wego is not available in Tamil Nadu and some eastern regions within the country. TVS will increase production capacity from the current 12,000 units to 20,000 units. Declining to comment on investment for the expansion, Goindi added, ”The capacity will be increased at the Hosur plant particularly for Wego…”
