On the official website of Nissan Sunny in China, new images have been posted that give a better idea of the C-Segment sedan.

Though the collection of photos is limited, we felt there is a reason in sharing them with you. The Sunny debuted yesterday at the Guangzhou Auto Show and it is expected to go on sale in India around Diwali next year.

In its official press release, Nissan stated that the branding and pricing for India will be decided closer to the Indian launch. In doing so Nissan has hinted that Sunny might not be on the car for India. Powertrain lineup is expected to be nothing out of the ordinary. A pair of fuel efficient engines (1.5-liter diesel, 1.6-liter petrol) will be offered to Indian customers next year.

In some markets, Nissan could continue running the same engine. Tune the 1.2-liter engine to produce higher power and that will do nicely. Nissan should not rule out the possibility of doing a sub 4-meter Sunny sedan for India along with these powertrains.

In terms of the exterior design, the sedan does look elegant with chrome and the slightly disproportional styling approach to bring it close to the Teana is very evident at the car’s rear.

Indoors, Nissan has added a AC vent for the rear passenger. The wheelbase has improved and so will the life for the rear seat passenger who gets an arm rest thrown in for long journeys.

We are awaiting more official pictures of the Sunny sedan. Hopefully we will be able to get you more in the coming weeks.

09 January 2011

By Tim Pollard

Hyundai has issued this solitary teaser photograph of the new Veloster. It's a coupe-cum-hatchback, along the lines of the VW Scirocco.

No details have been confirmed yet, ahead of its planned debut at the North American International Auto Show, aka the Detroit show in January 2011.

Hyundai Veloster: the background

The Hyundai Coupe slid quietly off sale in 2009, and the Veloster - promised in concept form a couple of years ago - fires the Koreans back into the semi-sporting market.

We'll get the new Veloster in Europe, too. Sales are tipped in October 2011.

What's underneath the Veloster?

The architecture underpinning the new Veloster is all Hyundai i30. So it's front-wheel drive, and will feature engines such as Hyundai's new downsized 1.6 petrol turbo.

Interestingly, unlike MINI's oddball Clubman, Hyundai has engineered the solitary rear door for left- and right-hand drive.

Seen here doors akimbo, you'll spot that the Hyundai Veloster won't dump its passengers on the wrong side of the road outside your children's school.

Looks promising - if a cramped, quasi sporting hatch-coupe mash-up is your thing. And judging by the number of Sciroccos we see on the roads, it might be a sleeper hit for Hyundai.

Mahindra Thar front black

Mahindra will launch the highly anticipated Thar jeep on the 21st of the this month at its Kandivali facility. The Thar’s being produced already for the overseas market. This is merely a local launch and not a roll out function.

We have already published a speculative article on the Thar’s prices in Hyderabad. If those are legitimate, then the Thar is going to be received well. There isn’t any major competition as such for a niche market vehicle such as the Thar.

Mahindra will fit the Thar with a 2.5-liter CRDI engine producing 105hp and 247Nm torque. It has more off-roading gear than you can shake a stick at.
