Mahindra 2011 MotoGP TeamAs we already reported earlier, Mahindra Group has recently revealed the faces of their Racing team for the 2011 MotoGP season. This has made Mahindra the first Indian manufacturer to compete in the sport.

Mahindra has hired Danny Webb and Marcel Schrotter as their riders for 2011 season that will commence testing in February 2011.

Mahindra has hired these two very young and thrive to win the 125cc class at the 2011 MotoGP World Championships.

“It is a matter of great pride for us to represent India in the world’s most prestigious two-wheeled race series. Mahindra Motorcycles will compete with the best in class, and it will be an ideal opportunity for us to showcase our strengths in the engineering and IT domains. MotoGP is the ultimate test for the finest talents in motorcycle racing and an immensely popular championship with a cult following. Our participation will also help us leverage the power of global branding for the Mahindra Group,” Mr. Anand Mahindra, VC and MD, Mahindra Group said.

Motogp in India By 2012 ?

Jaypee group is in serious talks with Madrid-based Dorna, the exclusive holder of all commercial and TV rights of the MotoGP World Championship. India is hoping they would be added on to the 2012 motogp calendar. A few months back India was added on to the 2011 F1 calendar.

Manu Bhaskar Gaur, executive general manager of Jaypee Sports International “Yes, we are in touch with Dorna. The racing track we are building is designed to host both F1 and MotoGP,” He also added that while the F1 race is slated for October next year, the company hopes to get MotoGP on the tracks by 2012.

Motogp for India is going to be a huge venture in terms of being a host as well as participation. A few days back it was announced that Motogp would see an indian rider racing in the 125cc for the first time. This participaion has developed due Ten 10 racing a Bangalore team and San Mario based WTR team tie-up, which will now be called Ten10 Racing Team.

Mahindra has also confirmed that they would be taking part in the 125 cc motogp segment. All in all for the moment India on a high note in Motogp news ! F1 has huge fan following in India and motogp is not too far behind- Stay Tuned.

Sarath Kumar the chennai based racer is the first Indian in Motogp. This 18 year old is all set to blaze the motogp circuits around the world. He will be slated among the best racers in the 125 cc world championship 2011. Sarath Kumar currently races for Ten 10 racing in Bangalore. The Bangalore racing team Ten 10 has recently tied up with WTR racing who races in the 125cc world racing championship – Moto 2. The 125cc team will now be called WTR Ten 10 Racing.

Ten 10 racing team principal Ramji Govindarajan said “Sarath was an obvious choice, first for his age, others are quite old. Besides, its his talent – he is way ahead of others. He has the eye for those small technical details, which other motorcyclists easily overlook,” He also added “We are also aiming to create an all Indian team by 2014, which will be recognised as among the best in the MotoGP circuit,”

Moving on to the man itself this is what Sarath Kumar had to say “I’m very happy because I am doing something which no Indian rider has done before. At the same time, I am taking it just like any other race,” He also added “Moto GP is a challenge. I didn’t expect to reach there so soon,”

How big a challenge would it be for Ten 10 racing and Sarath Kumar – Stay tuned.
