Indian Autos Blog already presented pictures of the facelifted Suzuki SX4 in the form of spyshots. At the Guangzhou Auto Show this week, it made its debut with significant changes.
There’s no change under the hood of the SX4. After the VW-Suzuki partnership was announced last year, many of us felt TDI engines would feature on the sedan and hatch, but that isn’t the case. Perhaps the next generation SX4 could receive some of the smaller VW group powertrains. The Swift and the Kizashi could also feature VW powertrains at a much later date.
Coming back to the SX4 facelift, we’re uncertain if this is a China specific facelift. The new front-end features plenty of chrome detailing. New headlamps, air intakes and a four slab grille transforms the front-end completely.
16-inch alloys, new tail lamps, mildly reworked boot and rear bumper are minor changes to the car’s exterior.
Step inside and things remain similar to the currently running model. Overseas auto websites talk about smart key entry available on select variants. The dual tone dashboard will be a nice touch for India as well.
Steering mounted audio controls, climate control, DVD video playback system for rear passengers, 9 speaker surround sound system, 6.5 inch touch LCD screen and integrated GPS intelligent navigation system complete the list of features.
Maruti Suzuki is working on SX4 variants for India and this facelift might debut on the diesel model. We have to wait till January to understand the company’s plan.

Haven’t you seen this car somewhere? Oh yes! It’s the Honda City from 2008.
At the Guangzhou motor show today, Honda debuted a new small sedan called the S1. Indians will recognize the S1 as the Honda City from the past with a giggle.
The S1 will be sold under the newly formed Li Nian brand, created by Guangqi Honda, a Chinese joint venture between Honda and the Guangzhou Automobile Group.
According to Honda, the Li Nian S1 is for the younger generation of buyers and it “adopts a powerful, energetic and outstanding design form”.
Doesn’t this Honda City remind you of a Dolphin?
The Li Nian S1 will be sold through the Guangqi Honda dealerships, with two petrol engines – 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter. The old gen Honda City helped Honda gain a strong position in India. There couldn’t have been another low cost model for a new Honda brand to repeat this sort of success in an overseas market.
