Nissan Motor India is gearing up to launch a MPV to compete with Toyota’s Innova, along with key models from its global brands.
Nissan Motor India Managing Director & CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama “We are launching a new multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in joint venture with Ashok Leyland . The MPV model will be launched in line with the market leader Toyota Innova in 2012,” He also added ”We are committed to increase our footprint in India. We are adding five more models in our portfolio by 2012.”
The Japanese auto major also proposes to double its manufacturing capacity from the present 2 lakh units per annum, Tokuyama said, without giving any timeframe.
On investment plans in India, Tokuyama said the company plans to invest additional Rs 2,200 crore in its Chennai unit.
