Renault SA has reported that it will not re-introduce Logan when it launches its own range of products from Mid-2011. The French automaker will end the licensing agreement with Mahindra & Mahindra within three months from now. The existing Logo carrying Renault tag will be withdrawn from the product.
According to reports, car, sold under the Mahindra-Renault badge, will see a re-branding exercise and be manufactured and distributed by M&M alone. The engines and transmissions for the Logan, however, would continue to be supplied by Renault. Mahindra has the rights to execute minor changes in the vehicle. Since the IPR for the Logan rests with Renault, company may provide the technology to upgrade the Logan in the future.
As we already reported earlier, Mahindra is almost developed the cut-down version of Logan to be launched in India. This will help Mahindra to avail discounts which is eligible with a body length of less than 4-meters and will also help to price the car very aggressively.
Renault has firmed plans to introduce five cars in the Indian market over the next two years, including the sedan Fluence, sports utility vehicle Koleos and a premium hatchback. Automaker is eying a 5% share of the Indian market by 2014, adds report.
