mahindra stallio 2 Mahindra Stallio Is It Doing Good ?Mahindra 2 Wheelers which entered the Motorcycle segment and launched two vehicles including Stallio and Mojo has not received a good welcome note from the bikers as it had before launch.

Mahindra had Aamir Khan as Stallio Brand Ambassador but failed among the commuter motorcycle segment and the company has witnessed lower in sales and not able to compete with the Bajaj Discover 100cc, Hero Honda Splendor and Honda Twister.

If Mahindra lowers price of its Commuter bike that might give a touch competition from the above vehicles and will receive good number of sales in due course.

Mr. Gaurav Rathore (Head of Sales) said that “the details regarding bringing Ninjas excessively and in more variants are being worked.”

He added, 1000 bikes of Ninjas were sold only within a year of launch. Out of these 1000 Ninjas, A.P alone accounted for 100 Ninjas. The company is looking for similar response in coming year. It is clear from this statement that Bajaj is happy with the bikes performance and will bring more Ninjas in future.

The company will bring the superbikes in India at the price bracket between Rs 12-13 lakhs range in future as the Super-bike segment is doing promise in sales.

In line with the American Car of the Year, European Car of the Year and Japanese Car of the Year, these awards are at par with international standards and are the most prestigious auto awards of the country.

JK Tyre, in association with the top auto magazines in India, today presented the most prestigious awards in the automotive industry - the Indian Car of the Year 2011 (ICOTY) and the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2011 (IMOTY).

The nominees were judged by a panel of senior automobile experts who got together to vote for the most impressive car and motorcycle of the year. Using their analytic skills and competence, the expert jury evaluated and tested the cars and motorcycles nominated. The voting system is very fair and transparent which makes the ICOTY and IMOTY amongst the most credible and coveted awards.

Ford Figo was conferred with the Indian Car of the Year 2011 and Honda CB Twister bagged the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2011.

Congratulating the winners of ICOTY & IMOTY, Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. said, “We are here to celebrate the achievements of the Indian automobile industry and to honour the focused and rigorous efforts made by auto makers in the areas of Design excellence and innovation and R&D. The ‘Indian Car of the Year’ and ‘Indian Motorcycle of the Year’ awards recognize the auto manufacturer with the highest level of performance in terms of product development, quality, timely delivery, competitive pricing, project management and customer service.”

The cars and motorcycles nominated were judged on various parameters such as price, fuel efficiency, design, comfort, safety, manoeuvrability, performance, functionality, environmental responsibility and driver/rider satisfaction among others. In addition, technical innovation and value for money were particularly important factors while deciding on the winner.

Cars and motorcycles that have had cosmetic facelifts or small mechanical changes like different power or drive trains, do not qualify for these awards. The country of origin does not matter, but they have to be sold in showrooms in India before 30th November of the previous year and should have been homologated for Indian type approval.

“The Indian Car of the Year award reflects India’s standing in the global automotive market. It recognizes the efforts made by manufacturers to give us Indians the cars that have been engineered with us in mind. Over six years, the ICOTY award has grown in stature and today, it’s something that all car manufacturers in India aspire for,” said Srinivas Krishnan, Editor, Business Standard Motoring and Chairman, ICOTY 2011.

On winning the ICOTY award Michael Boneham, President& MD, Ford India said, "Coming close on the heels of the Figo's immense popularity with over 58,000 units sold in past eight months, this industry-wide recognition truly establishes it as a performance car. The critical acclaim from the experts reinforces the faith in Figo as one of the best products in its class available today.”

The esteemed jury for ICOTY comprised Bob Rupani and Gautam Sen from Auto India, Sirish Chandran and Bertrand D’Souza from Overdrive, Girish Karkera and Sriram Narayanan from Top Gear, Aspi Bhathena from Car India, Srinivas Krishnan and Pablo Chaterji from Business Standard Motoring and Yogendra Pratap and Vikrant Singh from Auto Bild.

The jury of IMOTY included Bertrand D'Souza and Shubhabrata Marmar from Overdrive, Girish Karkera and Debabrata Sarkar from Top Gear, Aspi Bhathena from Bike India, Pablo Chaterji from Business Standard Motoring and Vikrant Singh from Auto Bild. This 13-member specialist jury consisting of senior Indian automotive journalists is the best from the industry and together they have over 300 years of experience.

In the ICOTY Category, while Ford Figo emerged as the clear winner with 83 points, Volkswagen Vento came second with 57 points. There was a tie for the third spot between Volkswagen polo and Skoda Yeti with 37 points.

There was a close clash between the top three motorcycles in the IMOTY category. Honda CB Twister won with 66 points while giving close competition was Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS with 63 points. TVS Jive was in third position with 48 points.

The finalists for the ICOTY category this year were Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Nissan Micra, Skoda Yeti, Tata Aria, Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento. The finalists for the IMOTY category were Bajaj Pulsar 135LS, Bajaj Discover 150, Honda CB Twister, Mahindra Stallio, TVS Jive and TVS Max4R.

India’s youngest F1 driver Karun Chandhok and India’s youngest karting champion Jehan Daruvala were also present at the award ceremony. Famous celebrity, Sophie Chowdhury added glitz and glamour to the award ceremony and enthralled the audiences with her mind-blowing performance.

The scale model of the 1930s racer, designed for kids features an aluminum frame, hydraulic brakes, seven-speed hub gear, leather-clad steering wheel and oak dashboard. The car sells for 9,700 Euros.

And now BMW is all geared up for the feisty Christmas season with new BMW- and Mini-branded sleds for 79 Euros apiece. Mercedes Benz is reciprocating with a full version of gull-wing SLS supercar for toddlers, due in April for 90 Euros each. These carmakers believe that they can make a lot of money by promoting kid-focused merchandise than simply making a few Euros from hawking toy racers

It is no secret that Audi wants to oust BMW as the world's largest luxury carmaker by 2015, and now the carmaker is revamping the Quattro GmbH unit to sharpen its focus on vehicle customization and accessories, said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi's sales chief said.

Along with toy cars, Audi also offers a range of teddy bears including one decked up in motor-racing suit for 47 Euros. Then, you also have Rob the Gecko, a black, grey and gold cartoon lizard featured in plush toys and baby items. Audi said in a brochure that the Gecko is made of such soft plush that you could hug and stroke him for ages without getting tired.

Like their cars, luxury car makers take all the steps to add small details to their toys that make them extraordinary. BMW's Snow Racer sled, which is available for 79 Euros, features replaceable metal runners, a suspension-system in the red steering ski, and a horn to warn inattentive passersby.

Mercedes Benz is all ready with its foot-powered SLS Bobby-Benz which will feature the shapes of its headlights, grill and rear end with Mercedes' $183,000 SLS sports car. The toy car will have quiet-running tires, an Ackermann steering system with tight cornering for living-room manoeuvrability and a steering wheel that absorbs impact to prevent injury in the event of a collision.

It has been 15 years since BMW began its lifestyle business, and now the company sells more than 2,000 products including 39-euro Mini rain boots and a 1,500-euro bike from BMW's M performance unit. BMW has also introduced a kid edition of the M3 GT2 race car. The battery-powered version, which costs 349 Euros, has forward and reverse gears and a top speed of 2.5 miles per hour.
"We are first and foremost a marketing initiative, and the main objectives are to broaden the brand's presence and strengthen loyalty," said Thomas Goerdt, head of BMW's merchandising and lifestyle unit. "We are a marketing effort that makes money."

In China, which happens to be the third-largest market for BMW cars, it opened a store selling merchandise a year before it began assembling cars in the country. There are now 40 BMW stores in China, and it is considering expanding its retail presence to Korea, Russia and India.

These days, luxury car owners want a variety of products to convey their association with a particular brand, but the merchandising have to be kept limited so that it does not interfere with the brands' core business.

Michel Gabriel, managing director for consultancy Interbrand in Zurich, who has previously advised Audi on branding, said, "Sometimes you have to say no, even if a lot of money can be made from a product like branded underwear".

In the end, Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz are also chasing Aston Martin when it comes to luxury kids toys. The super-luxury British carmaker sold mini motorised replicas of the V8 Vantage Volante and Virage in the late 1980s and early '90s to customers including Prince Charles.

The Aston Martin Volante Junior was sold for nothing less than 15,000 pounds plus taxes. The toy car had a petrol engine, radio and a top speed of more than 30 miles per hour.

His low-cost plans along with the company’s decision to manufacture affordable new models and expanding capacity is a perfect blend for this financial year.

For the moment the 100cc TVS Star Sport at Rs 32,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) is the cheapest bike offered from TVS Motors.
