Yes it is true. Hold your horses. Ferrari will officially burn Indian roads within the next six months, hoping to be up against rivals such as Porsche and Lamborghini who are already present in the Indian market.
“Ferrari will enter the Indian market in the first half of 2011. India will be the 58th market in the world where Ferrari will be present,” Valeria Costa, Communications Director of the Italian brand, told reporters from the company’s headquarters at Turin, Italy. The company will not seek support from its Indian partner, Tata Motors. “We will have an importer managing the business,” Costa said. Fiat cars are presently retailed and serviced through Tata Motors. “The market has matured and is growing rapidly. New cars will help stimulate demand further. The economy is on a roll and people are open to engage in luxury buys.”
Unfortunately, Bangalore loses out as a probable venue for the launch to other metros such as Delhi and Mumbai.
Ferrari’s finest include California, 458 Italia, 599 and 612. These beauties will attract duties of about 110% and as expected, a price tag of INR 1.5 Crore and above.
Famous Indians who own Ferraris include cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, liquor baron Vijay Mallya and auto maker, Ratan Tata.
