The quality of build and materials of the Vista is better the Indica, launched in 1998. The Vista is not a facelift model of the Indica but an altogether new model with a complete look and feel of a sedan. The new car is marked by a new front chrome grill, multi-chamber stylish head lamps, chrome hood strip and seven speed front wipers.

The Tata Vista comes in four trims- LS/ GLS (base version), LX/ GLX, VX/ GVX and ZX/ GZX (top-end version) and it is available in six colors - Summer Sparkle, Porcelain White, Arctic Silver, Spice Red, Brilliant Blue and Cavern Grey.

The all new Tata Indica Vista is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The diesel models are powered by a 4 cylinder common rail SDE 1248 cc Quadrajet engine rated at 75PS @ 4000 RPM and 190 Nm @ 1750-3000 RPM and a four cylinder turbo intercooled 1405 TDi engine good for 71PS @ 4500 RPM and 135.4 Nm @ 2500 RPM. Their mileage figures range from 13 to 15 kmpl on city roads and 17 to 22.3 on highways.

The petrol variants derive power from a four cylinder Multi Point Fuel Injection (MPFi) 1172 Safire 65 engine which pumps out 65 bhp @ 5500 RPM and 96 Nm at 3000 RPM and a 4 cylinder 16 valve MPFi Safire 90 engine with twin cam variable valve timing technology which generates 90 bhp @ 6000 RPM and 116 Nm @ 4750 RPM. The fuel economy is a little bit lesser than the diesel counterparts. On city roads, petrol engine deliver 12 kmpl and 16.7 on highways. The improved shift mechanism of the manual 6-speed synchromesh with overdrive transmission results in smoother gear shifts.

The new clutch-to-Start feature ensures that engine is cranked only when the clutch is fully pressed. The braking efficiency is up by 15 per cent thanks to the bigger brake booster. The steering is lighter and very responsive. The vacuum assisted, independent hydraulic brakes stop the car very soon and enhance safety. The front wheels have disc brakes while the rear ones come with drum brakes.

Sporty alloy wheels come with the chrome package. The car is available in a new color Summer Sparkle.

The interior is equally impressive. The spacious dual tone-Ebony Black and Sahara Beige interior provides comfortable seating for five passengers. The four-spoke steering wheel has mounted audio controls connected to a 2-Din music system. The audio system is equipped with USB, auxiliary jack and Bluetooth connectivity, which can connect to five mobile phones simultaneously. The electrically controlled Heating, Ventilation and AC (HVAC) controls are very easy to operate and add to comfort on trips. There are four speakers and two tweeters. The steering and seats can be adjusted to requirements. The seats have lumbar support. If the seats are folded, one can get sufficient luggage space. Fully fabricated seats, dual tone dashboard and stylish gear shift elevate the looks of the interior to a new level.

Bigger than Indica in size & space. Compact sporty look. Height adjustable driver's seat. Tall tail lights for good visibility. Latest interior features. 2-year Extended Warranty. No new safety features compared to regular Indica.

The popular Tata Indica was launched in 1998, which was purely a hatchback. The car has made a successful journey so far and has gained millions of Indian hearts for its brand cars in the Indian market. Many car buyers have postponed their car purchase in wait of the all new Tata Indica Vista.

The Indica Vista is finally here. The car comes with a choice of three powerful engines, enhanced interiors, increased interior space, and better quality interiors. The model is built on a completely new platform.

The Vista drives on the popularity and liking of Tata's Indica V2. The most exciting thing about the new Indica Vista is that it is offered in three main variants with three engine options and like the Indica, it's available in both petrol and diesel versions.

The Indica Vista variants are Terra Safire, Terra TDI, Terra Quadrajet, Aqua Safire, Aqua TDI, Aqua Quadrajet, Aura Safire, and Aura Quadrajet. Limited Edition variants are available in Quadrajet and Safire. The variants are named based on the engines - TDI has a re-worked version of the 1.4-litre turbocharged 475 IDI engine that's currently on the regular Indica models; Safire comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine; and Quadrajet gets a 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel engine. The new Indica Vista Drivetech4 is launched in BS-IV versions and has a specially designed Eurotech gearbox that perfectly complements the Vista Drivetech4 Quadrajet diesel and Safire petrol engines. This ensures high torque at low RPMs, less vibration, accurate gear shifting, enhanced engine life and cooled exhaust gas recirculation for lower emissions.

The 1.2-litre petrol engine on Safire models dispenses 65 bhp@5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 96 Nm@3000 rpm. It employs Continuous Variable Cam Phaser (CVCP) technology to provide enhanced drive quality and fuel economy. The drive-by-wire system provides good accelerator pedal control.

The 1.3-litre common-rail diesel engine, called 'Quadrajet' or 'Multijet', generates 75 bhp@4000 rpm and delivers a high torque of 190 Nm@1750 rpm for better city driving.

The 1.4-litre turbocharged intercooled TDi engine has been re-worked for the Indica Vista. It pumps out 71 bhp@4500 Nm and renders 135 Nm@2500 rpm.

Both the Safire and Quadrajet engines are paired to a new cable aided gearbox with twin synchronizers for accurate gear shift experience and quality. All engines on the Indica Vista are coupled to a smooth 5-speed manual transmission.

The car is equipped with a power-assisted hydraulic rack & pinion steering system for easy handling and driving experience.

New Tata Indica Vista Car - Interior

The new Tata Indica Vista is a complete makeover of the existing Tata Indica V2 and is larger in size and interior space. Its up-to-date styling and sharp appearance give a compact sporty feel. The Tata Indica was already quite spacious and now the new Vista has a wheelbase that is increased by 70 mm and length by 120 mm.

The car comes with a host of attractive exterior features like a bold honeycomb grille, wing shaped headlight cluster that harmonizes the grille, and tall taillights that give the car a striking appeal. The most distinctive feature of the Vista is the presence of sharp crease lines on the hood and on the door. The other features are rear wiper, de-mister, and front/rear fog lamps. The car rides on tubeless tyres, gas filled shock absorbers, and a new twist beam suspension.

An integrated CD player and a two DIN CD System with a USB port and remote control enables music to be customised. Some of the safety features on the Vista include central locking, 3-point ELR seat belts, warning buzzers, and child safety rear door locks.

The Vista is a product of Tata's continued efforts to deliver the finest quality and best comfort on its cars. The seating is very ergonomic. Lumbar adjustable front seats, 60:40 foldable rear seats, and height adjustable driver's seat are standard features. A unique centrally mounted instrument panel enhances the appearance of the dual tone dashboard. Power windows on all doors are provided for convenience and a tilt-adjustable steering wheel offers better driving posture.

Turbocharger has improved the underpowered car's performance. Alloy wheels peep up the gorgeous car. Choice of two diesel engines. Redesigned exterior and interiors styling. Good throttle response on highway. Suspension system soaks bumps and road imperfections. Transmission needs refinement.

The Tata Group entered the small car market in 1998 by launching the Indica. It is an indigenously designed car that is accepted largely by Indian and European car buyers. The four-door hatchback was launched in both, diesel and petrol, versions. In 2003, the Indica rolled out in England as the City Rover.

The first generation Indica had some flaws based on the customers' feedback. The improved second version -- V2 -- was launched. With lots of interior modifications, it emerged as the bestselling car and a major contender for small cars. Both the engines were up to Indian standards and could penetrate into the European and the South African market. The transmission refinement was addressed, but the V2's transmission is not completely refined. The wheel alignment and steering correction was solved. The Indica diesel surfaced as the cab and changed the private transportation arena in India. But the car came under the scanner of auto critics as it was underpowered for stop-and-start city driving. But soon this probelm was answered by Tata when it came out with the Xeta engine which delivered more power.

The Indica V2 Base is currently available in two variants: DLE and DLS. The Indica V2 Xeta comes with nince variants: V2 Xeta GL, GLE, GLS, GLG, GLX and the two LPG variants GLE LPG and GLS LPG. It is a welcome move with more ponies to dispense. Though the power boost comes into action at mid range rpm, it is good value for its sticker price. The Tata engineers have worked on the transmission substantially to make the car more refined in every which ways.

All the diesel variants are powered by a 1.4L Inline-4, naturally aspirated engines. This engine pumps out 52.7 bhp at 5,500 rpm which is also much quicker than its predecessor.

For extra pull in the city stop-and-start drive, that extra power is unleashed after the engine is spun beyond 2,000 rpm and it can do a 60 km/h in just 6 seconds. Power flows steadily from the motor throughout the rev range. The engine is a bit noisy and invites some refinement. The 5-speed manual is a carry over without any improvement. The engine delivers maximum torque at lower rpm and has good pull throughout the rev range.

The Indica V2 Xeta is a petrol power plant and comes with two engines: a 1.4L and a 1.2L. The 1.4L Inline-4 petrol engine generates 70 bhp @ 4,800 rpm while the 1.2L generates 64.4 bhp @ 5,000.

The car's suspension is tuned to precise functioning and perfect wheel balance, thus improving the ride quality. The straight line stability of this hatchback is worth applause. The rack and pinion steering is responsive, which helps ripping in narrow city lanes. Slam the brake pedals; the front disc and the rear drum brakes bring the car to a halt in no time.

New Tata Indica V2 Car - Interior

The largely accepted Indica comes with a design change now. Tata's design studio has restyled the bumper, grille, headlight, dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel and the interiors of the car as well. The new subtle body style is welcome; it adds some freshness to the Indica. The smiling chrome grille and eye-shaped headlamps get a tweak. The fit and body-build is fine for the Indian market. The C-pillar is broad but still it does not obstruct the rear view of the driver. All the trims get body-coloured bumpers, mirrors and wheel flares.

It is roomy inside, comfortable for five and a perfect value for the money paid. Its cabin is also more refined now. Though the cabin is kept away from the engine noise, you can still overhear the engine noise. The instrument gauge gets an electronic instrument cluster, with two trip meters equipped with light intensity controls. The rear seat backrest can be folded for more cargo space. Driving V2 is a pleasure now, as the four-spoke power steering is more responsive. Refinement is evident but comparing it with the Korean and the Japanese cars' performance would be expecting too much of this small car.

Some of the standard exterior features include molded roof lining and door trims, tinted windshield, door and tailgate glass, variable intermittent type wiper, body-coloured wheel arch flairs and bumpers, and sill valence covers. The rear assets include seat backrest folding and re-folding facility with 60:40 split, all four doors-operated cabin lamps, power steering, remote release of fuel lid latch and tailgate latch.

Other Standard safety features include side intrusion beam on all four doors, collapsible steering column, child safety locks on rear doors, anti-submarine seats, and front disc brakes.
