14 April, 2011 Nissan Motor India on Wednesday announced its move into a new corporate office, spread across an area of 13,500 square feet at T Nagar in Chennai.
“Today marks yet another significant milestone for us at Nissan, as we move to our new corporate office in Chennai,” Nissan Motor India’s Managing Director and CEO, Kiminobu Tokuyama, said.
The office will house employees of the programme management team, corporate planning, product planning, exports, after-sales, finance, communications and human resource functions, the company said in a statement.
“Not only will this new facility aim to meet the requirements of Nissan’s growing operations in India, it is also in line with our strategy to draw synergies with our alliance partner, Renault, whose corporate office is housed in the same building,” Tokuyama added.
Nissan and Renault signed a MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu in February 2008 to set up a manufacturing plant at Oragadam, near Chennai at an investment of Rs 4,500-crore.
The Renault-Nissan alliance plant was inaugurated in a record time of 21-months since its ground-breaking ceremony in June 2008. The plant has an initial capacity of 2,00,000 units per year and can reach 4,00,000 units per year at full capacity in the future.
Nissan’s Mumbai office will continue to act as the regional office with some of the members from the product planning team, the homologation team, after-sales and colleagues from Hover Automotive India, Nissan's strategic alliance partner for sales, marketing and dealer development in India.
