Graffiti MINIs

There’s two ways to look at these MINIs – they’re either ruined or they are pieces of art! As part of the FLASH Forum series of events on Yas Island in November, well known street artists, Inkie and 3Dom, run workshops and live demonstrations under the banner: ’Leave your mark on Yas’.

At some point they must have stumbled across these two MINIs carelessly left there by Abu Dhabi Motors (the official importer). Armed only with permanent makers the graffiti specialists went at the cars creating ’freestyle’ designs taking just 45 minutes each, adding their signature trademarks. Designs were also based on the capital city’s landscape, culture and traditions.

Inkie studied at The Bristol School of Graffiti (yes there is a school for this sort of stuff), and is one of the UK’s most prolific street artists, counting the infamous Banksy as a former peer and partner in crime. Meanwhile 3Dom, who also comes from Bristol, is an underground graffiti artist who prefers to keep his identity anonymous.

Sarah Klippert, MINI Manager at BMW Group Middle East said: ’MINI is known across the globe for celebrating culture, creativity and design. At a global level MINI supports urban projects, competitions and events that champion creativity such as music, film and art. Therefore collaborating with LEAVE YOUR MARK ON YAS, an event that specifically supports urban talent was a perfect fit for the MINI brand.’

The MINIs, by the way, were actually wearing white wrap, so can be restored back to how they were. On the other hand driving these two as they are you’d have the most unique MINIs around – as long as you can get them registered with the RTA!
