Toyota Innova rolled out into the Indian car market in March 2005. It was first manufactured and marketed in Indonesia and was called Toyota Kijang Innova, while for other countries, it is just Innova. When it came to India in 2005, the car had set new benchmarks in the MPV (multi-utility vehicle) segment. Since then it is admired and appreciated for its fantastic ride quality, luxurious and versatile interiors, spacious cabin, superior performance, and class-leading safety features.
After rejoicing the success of its Innova in India for about three years, Toyota introduced the New Innova. It is redesigned to be more dynamic and stylish to drive the zest of life. With minor but significant additions in the car's exterior as well as the interior, Innova is sure to drive admiring glances and envious stares with its style and sophistication.
Take on any adventurous ride, the facelifted version of the Innova will now have a tougher competition with other MUVs like Chevrolet Tavera, Tata Sumo Victa, and Mahindra Bolero, offering a perfect balance of form and function.
A brand known for its state-of-the-art engines provides a choice of seven variants and two engines for Innova. Among the 7 variants 3 are petrol variants and 4 are diesel counterparts that are powered by a 2-litre petrol and a 2.5-litre diesel respectively. The diesel variants are E, G, GX and VX whereas the petrol variants are G, GX and VX. The petrol engine employs Toyota's variable valve timing (VVT-i) technology releasing 136 bhp whereas the turbocharged diesel engine has 102 bhp on the tap and achieves peak torque of 200 Nm between 1,400 and 3,400 rpm. Both the 16-valve Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) engines are liquid cooled and are connected to the rear wheels by a buttery soft 5-speed manual transmission.
In addition, the double wishbone front suspension with stabilizer and coil spring, and the four link rear suspension with coil spring improves performance and ride quality. The efficient rear suspension layout is well-suited to the Indian roads as it soaks imperfections on highways and bumps in the city roads.

Innova is designed with passion to create a sure show-stopper. Toyota has combined its wisdom, technical expertise, undying vision, and age-old experience to create the New Innova with a dynamic style. The exterior of the car is personified with a new bumper, stylish grille, electrical outside rear view mirror, and a redesigned rear end accentuated with impressive taillights. Stylish alloy wheels also adds extra charm to the car's exterior.
The interiors of the car have all the practical features and ground breaking technologies along with lavishly appointed interiors to set new standards in comfortable motoring. The high-end variants of the New Innova are beautified with multi-function display, automatic air-conditioner, steering mounted multi-function controls, and advanced car audio system. The state-of-art audio system equipped in the car is the 2 DIN AM/FM 1 CD with MP3. The wooden-finish in the interior further accentuates the ambience of the car.
Innova makes no compromise on safety. This is why it comes packed with a host of safety features including the Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) body, anti-lock brakes, airbags, load sensing proportion valve, collapsible steering column, child protector locks, side door impact beams, and high rigidity frame. It also has the parking sensors fitted in the rear bumpers to ease the pain of car parking.
