The glamorous Mercedes SLS AMG comes equipped with a standard specification of naturally aspirated AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid-engine. The engine, which delivers a peak torque of 571 bhp and 650 Nm, is just awesome. Additionally, the engine can generate a maximum power output of 420 bhp at 6800 rpm. The SLS AMG engine is coupled with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission with four transmission modes, integrated rear-axle locking differential and Race Start functions.
The Mercedes SLS AMG with its powerful engine can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in a matter of just 3.8 seconds. The top speed of this super-luxury sports car is 317 kmph.
The wide gear ratios enable the SLS AMG to offer phenomenal fuel efficiency. While the car can give a mileage of about 5kmpl in the urban limits, the fuel consumption on the sleek highway is about 10 kmpl.
With AMG high-performance composite brake system and AMG sports suspension with double wishbones on the front and rear axles, the ride in the car is extremely smooth and pleasant. The aluminium bodyshell of the SLS gives it outstanding strength without compromising on great handling.
The Luxury sports car, built in house by Mercedes-Benz AMG to replace the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, draws a lot of inspiration from the proportions of classic Mercedes-Benz sports cars. While the gullwing doors are the centre of attraction of the SLS AMG, you cannot overlook the perfectly designed bonnet, distinctive V-shaped front section and the low-position passenger compartment. The bi-xenon front headlamps with daytime driving lights and LED indicator lamps not only enhance the safety aspect of the supercar, but also add style to it.
The curved windscreen blends in easily with the solid B-pillar to the flat sloping boot lid. The wing shaped LED tail lights lend some more style to the supercar. The rear aerofoil, when retracted, blends in so well with the overall rear end that it looks like a part of it. Moreover, as soon as you reach a speed of more than 120 km/h, the rear aerofoil extends automatically. The rear aerofoil could be activated manually at lower speeds.
The interiors of the SLS AMG are as impressive as the exteriors. The hand-finished character of the supercar is revealed by the range of fine materials, including the nappa leather and real metal trim, used for the interior of the supercar. The AMG DRIVE UNIT with AMG E-SELECT is placed in the solid metal centre console. The SLS AMG's wing obsession is well reflected in the wing-shaped instrument, too, which features air vents and AMG instrument cluster. The entertainment package in the SLS AMG includes a Bang and 01ufsen BeoSound AMG sound system that is specifically designed to pamper your ears. The system's entertainment functions consist of a radio with integrated FM dual tuner and an additional RDS and TMC tuner for traffic information, a CD and DVD drive that is MP3 compatible and a MUSIC REGISTER with a 6 GB hard disk for storing digital music files. A memory card slot is also integrated and a Bluetooth interface provides connections to mobile telephones.
The SLS AMG, with its Adaptive airbags and kneebags, seat-integrated sidebags and separate window-bags for driver and passenger, reaches new dimensions of safety. Standard safety features include Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Acceleration skid control (ASR), Brake Assist (BAS), Electric parking brake with convenience function and Electronic immobilizer. The anti-theft alarm system is also paired with a tow-away protection and infrared interior monitoring.
