Nissan Motor India is currently aligning its Micra hatch to price the car well compared to its rivals. The company’s cost engineers visited India to hold discussions with vendors to cut costs of its components. The team was led by Takeshi Kawai of the cost engineering department of Nissan Motors.
“The last six months has witnessed several new car launches. Nissan is an important player in the market and realises that cost advantage could make the difference, said by an industry source.
The company is currently looking for various possibilities to cut cost and decrease the base price and increase the chances to sell well in India without compromising quality.
Nissan Micra is being produced at the Chennai facility which the company shares with its French JV partner Renault. The company is planning to export Micra to nearly 100 countries including Europe and parts of Africa.
