Nissan Motor India is planning for Teana to build as Semi Knocked Down unit and on the other side it is planning to launch a new MPV to compete against Toyota Innova. This was announced after it launched the Micra Diesel.
“We are launching a new multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in joint venture with Ashok Leyland. The MPV model will be launched in line with the market leader Toyota Innova in 2012,” Nissan Motor India Managing Director & CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama said.
“We are committed to increase our footprint in India. We are adding five more models in our portfolio by 2012,” Tokuyama said.
The company also wanted to double its production capacity from the present 2 lakh units per announced, said by Tokuyama.
