If Hyundai’s recent track record for making luxury-cum-performance cars such as the Genesis and Equus is anything to go by, you’ll notice considerable efforts made by the company to cater to a different class of automobile customers. Rumour has it that Hyundai is looking to brand their cars made for the luxury segment which could possibly create competition for the likes of BMW 3-series and Lexus cars. The Wall Street Journal refers to Hyundai’s plans to separate its premium offerings from its mainstream cars by way of a premium brand. Similar to Honda’s Acura, Toyota’s Lexus and Nissan’s Infiniti.
John Krafcik, Head, Hyundai – USA, revealed in an interview to the Wall Street Journal. However, before any moves are mad, the company will gauge the success of the Equus and the Genesis to make a decision. Hyundai will unveil their new global branding strategy at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show, also replacing their current tagline ‘Drive You War’ with a new upbeat message.
