Ford Middle East announced at the Abu Dhabi Motor Show that it was expecting a 30% increase in sales by year-end in the GCC compared to last year. It’s expecting to see even better sales in 2011 with the introduction of several cars at the show, including the 2011 V6 and V8 Mustangs, the new Ford Edge (both of which we’ve already reviewed – see related stories below right) and the new Lincoln MKX.
‘Ford continues its tremendous growth across the region, and I am pleased to say we now feature one of our most refreshed and youngest lineups ever,’ said Hussein Murad, Ford Middle East's regional director of Sales.
The most popular cars proved to be the Taurus, Fusion and Focus. In the SUV range the Explorer did well for the Blue Oval.
Sales in the United Arab Emirates were up 10%, with the Taurus, Fusion and Mustang contributing to nearly 10%. Saudi Arabia posted the strongest regional growth, with 40% boost over 2009.
