Japanese automobile giant Toyota Motors is all geared up for the launch of their Etios car in India on Wednesday. Akio Toyoda, President will be present at the event, to witness the milestone launch of Toyota’s Indian entity: The Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited (TKM), a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group. TKM is targeting the sale of 70,000 units of Etios in its first year.
TKM will display to the world the sedan version of Etios on Wednesday, and the hatchback version will soon follow in March 2011. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), TKM, confirms that Etios bookings will begin in December and deliveries are expected in January. “We are very excited about the launch. We are sure the customers will be very happy. Reviews of auto journalists are very, very good,” Singh added
The sedan is likely to compete with equals Swift Dzire and Tata Manza, while the hatchback will combat the Hyundai i20, Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, and Volkswagen Polo.
